My mom asked me to make a few felt flowers to embellish a plain felted purse she recently bought, and of course I was happy to. I think these might be my favorite type of felt flowers. They are definitely more time consuming than the roses I made for my yarn wreath but completely worth it.
You will need to cut 13 circles out of felt. 1 of them should be 3" in diameter and 12 should be 2" in diameter. The larger circle is for the bottom.
I like to use wool felt
because the colors are usually more muted and I love the marbled look.

Now take your smaller circles and add some hot glue to the center. Press the sides together so they look like this.
Hot glue four of the these around the edge of the large circle.
Glue four more of these in between the four that are already attached to the large circle.
Glue the last four in wherever they fit, make sure to fill all the holes. When you're done, use nice sharp sewing scissors to trim the flower if some of the petals stick out too much. I added leaves with some leftover green felt I had from the turtle I sewed.
The finished product...
I love these!
