Congratulations are in order...

Today's the day! Two of my very best friends are tying the knot! I was lucky enough to be there the night these two met, the day their beautiful baby girl was born, and now I get to be there as they say 'I do'. I'll be sharing photos next week!

Have a great weekend, friends!

Oh, Deer!

You might recall a post I did a while back featuring my faux-terrarium, complete with preserved moss, a tiny mushroom, and my fawn figurine. I love this little fawn so much and I'm in the market for a few more. While doing some shopping around, I decided to dedicate a post to all things deer, some "fawn favorites" if you will...

Snag That Style: The Golden Girls

I'll admit it... I love The Golden Girls. I don't know too many people who share my affinity, but I figured, what the heck, I'm going to do a Golden Girls 'Snag That Style' post anyway!

DIY: Glittery Halloween Wreath

I woke up on Saturday morning determined to make a Halloween wreath... the only problem was, I had no idea how I was going to do it. Despite having no plan of action, I'm very pleased with the outcome! Here's how I did it...

Last year I purchased some plastic skulls from a local party supply store. I cut three of them in half, sprayed them with spray adhesive, and covered them in silver glitter.

While those were drying, I used a scalloped paper punch and punched circles out of an old book I got from a garage sale. I got the idea here.

I used a straw wreath because I already had it, but a styrofoam wreath would work too. Using a pencil, I wrapped each circle around the the lead part, added a drop of hot glue, and attached them to the wreath.

Once I was finished, I decided to spray the wreath with black spray paint. I didn't completely cover it because I wanted the book pages to show through a bit.

Once the wreath was dry, I hot glued the skulls on and attached some felt roses as well. To make the felt roses, check out this DIY.

TA DAAA! I can't wait to hang it on the front door!

Book(s) of the Week: Kids Edition!

Since school just started, and some of my readers are mamas, I decided to do a very special book of the week post! Let's take a look back at some of my old childhood (and young adult) favorites...

Judy Blume was my absolute favorite author as a kid. I loved all the Fudge books. I'll be honest, I actually read a couple of these recently just for the heck of it... and they're just as good as I remember them!

Coming in at a close second is Beverly Cleary. The Ramona books were great. There was a TV series too! Does anyone remember it? I found this video of the opening credits... that brought back some memories!

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle! I think one of these books was on my summer reading list as a kid but I ended up reading them all. I might have to pick one up at the library soon, because to be quite honest, I hardly remember them.... I just remember that I couldn't put them down!

Below are my six favorite young adult-ish books. Most of these are a given, I mean, who doesn't love To Kill a Mockingbird?

So... what are some of your childhood favorites?

Snag That Style: Parks and Recreation

I'm ridiculously excited about all of my favorite shows starting this week but I think I'm the most excited for Parks and Recreation. So... to commemorate the premiere of Parks and Rec, I've decided to dedicate a Snag That Style post to it!

Halloween Door Decor

I know, I know... Halloween is over a month away, but it's never too early to start decorating, right? You might recall the heart shaped yarn wreath I made way back in February... well, I think it's time to try my hand at another one (not necessarily yarn this time) and I'm going with a Halloween theme. Who said wreaths are just for Christmas anyway? Here are a few of my favorites...

How pretty is the burnt orange yarn with the cream colored flowers? Well, you're in luck! Win that gorgeous wreath in this giveaway over at Little Things Bring Smiles! I absolutely love this gray wreath as well. I never even considered adding anything but flowers. The ghosts are just perfect.

On a slightly spookier note, I really like the look of these all black wreaths. Take a look at Martha Stewart's tutorial here, to figure out how to make your own black silk flower wreath. The 2nd wreath is made entirely out of black crepe paper! Check out the tutorial here.

These rosette wreaths are perfect for the entire fall season. Orange wreath found here, fall color wreath found here.

Last but definitely not least, these two wreaths are like nothing I've ever seen before! Both from The Chic-Adee Shop, these wreaths just scream Halloween. Take a closer look at the 'mummy's tomb wreath'  here, and the 'howling moon wreath' here.

Desert Wedding

When my long-time friend, Kaitlin, asked me to create some wedding decorations for her, I was more than happy to help. When I found out the wedding was being held at Hicksville Trailer Palace in Joshua Tree, CA, I was completely overjoyed. I can't get over what an awesome venue this is!

Jess (of Jack plus Jess) and I used orange, yellow, and mint green tissue paper to create both a pom pom garland and large pom poms to line the aisle.

I also put together this JUST MARRIED banner for the couple.

Seriously, how freaking cool is this wedding? Photographer, David Branson did an amazing job of capturing this beautiful day.

I'm so happy that I was able to contribute to this absolutely perfect wedding!
