What you'll need:
- mason jar
- scissors
- hot glue
- small piece of fabric
- a little Polyfill
Trim the fabric to be about an inch larger than the lid. Hot glue the fabric to the lid leaving a small opening. Add the Polyfill and seal it up. Line the inside of the outer part of the lid with glue and secure the cushion inside. That's it!
what an amazing idea!!! I'm for sure going to try this. and I love that you can store threads and such in the jar...so brilliant!
ReplyDeletethat is so clever! and so convenient to stash your threads and tape measures in the jar - i don't sew enough but now i wish I did! xo
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute idea! And so practical! I'll definitely have to try this soon! <3
ReplyDeleteahhhh i don't know why i love this so much but i doooo!
ReplyDeleteI love this so much.. saw it on Pinterest and before I even finished reading about it I was gathering up supplies.. now I am sitting waiting for the hot glue gun to warm up. Off to see my mom tomorrow who sews all the time.. want to take one to her :) Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat's great, Michelle! Try to use as little hot glue as possible to ensure that the lid closes. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks.. I can just barely get it closed :) I did a couple of things a bit different.. I cut slits in the fabric and glued each one down.. think that helped keep it a little flatter and being able to pull it tight.. then I covered the bottom of the lid with a piece of felt.. Love it!! Shared mine on facebook with a link back to here :)
ReplyDeletemy next case of mason jars, you can bet your bloody mary i'll be making one of these puppies!
ReplyDeleteI love this!! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
This is a perfect gift for my mother-in-law. She loves to sew and she loves to can the veggies from her garden. What a great way to combine two of her passions! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time getting it closed too, thank you for the comment above, I am definitely going to try that the next time! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI made some of these a couple of years ago and used wide mouth 4 oz jars - much more practical!
ReplyDeleteTo each his own, I suppose, Patti. I like this size because I can store more items. Plus, it was all I had. I like to work with items I have around the house as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! Your photos turned out great too :)
ReplyDeleteI made one too!

That looks great, Kristen! I love how you store your headbands!
DeleteThis is really cool. I think I can do this. I don't sew much, but when I need to mend or hem, I can never find my stuff. This will be a lifesaver!
ReplyDeleteI made some! I bought a packet of squares in different patterns since I don't have left-over cloth. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSounds cute, Kathy! Thanks so much for reading the blog!
DeleteI just loved this idea. I finally made one following your instructions. I used a VERY thin cotton from an old light blouse I cut up. I doubled it just incase it might get thin from future years of use. After it was done, I crocheted a lacey circle to go ontop. It is very elegant and I love it. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds adorable, Sherrilynn! :)
DeleteClearly I'm not organized enough to keep my pins in their designated box so I figured, why not make a pin cushion to keep on my desk?
