I have a confession to make... I've NEVER made brownies from scratch... until today! The ones from the box are just so good. Especially the Ghirardelli ones. Anyway, I found this recipe and knew I had to give it a try. I'm pleased to tell you that these brownies are absolutely delicious!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 2 1/4 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/4 cups cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9"x13" baking dish. In a saucepan, melt the butter and then add the sugar. Cook for 2 minutes stirring constantly. Do not let the mixture boil.
Place the butter mixture, cocoa powder, eggs, salt, baking powder, and vanilla into a large bowl. Mix until combined.
Stir in the flour and chocolate chips.
Pour into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
These babies are rich! So I'll leave you with a Steel Magnolias quote...
Those brownies look delicious! It should be illegal though to post this kind of goodness before lunchtime! Now I want a brownie for breakfast!!

ReplyDeleteI have a confession to make... I've NEVER made brownies. That's a shame, they are so yummy and easy to make!
ReplyDeleteThey look super tasty. Must be something in the air because I made chewy chocolate cream cheese cookies this week!
ReplyDeleteOh man, YUM. I must make these soon!
ReplyDeleteI JUST made these at ten in the morning because they looked so delicous and seemed so simple. I'm happy to report that not only were they really easy to make, but they were scrumptious as well. I'm so glad that I found this recipe. I had previously tried making brownies from scratch and that ended up a disaster. This was my last chance. Thank you so much for finding this recipe and posting it. You can't begin to imagine how much I appreciate it!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like them! Now I want to make a batch! :)
DeleteSo good and yummy! I have been looking for a new brownie recipe (as I have lost my old favourite) and this one is the new winner. So gooey and fudgey and amazing.
ReplyDeleteYayyy! I'm happy you liked them! :)
DeleteCan you use white chocolate chips? Would they still taste good?
ReplyDeleteI think that would taste great!
DeleteCorrect me if I am wrong, but the picture of the butter that you have shows 2 half quarts of butter which makes half a cup and not one cup as you specify, 1 cup is two bars of butter. The brownies look YUMMY!!!!!!

Hi Maria,
DeleteI'm not quite sure that I understand your question. The 2nd photo shows 2 bars of butter which equals one cup... that is the amount I used. Hope that helps.
These are the only brownies I've ever made, but I've made them three times in the last 8 weeks. Every time I finish a batch, a new person requests some! They should come with a warning: Don't share with anyone :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! You made my day! :)
DeleteThey were amazing! Doing this afternoon again, thank you for this amazing recipe!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked them, Natasha!
DeleteI'm so glad I found this recipe!! This is my go chocolate brownie recipe and its such a hit in my household! Thanks. :)
